You may have noticed our “co-op conversion” learning path has materials focused on worker buyouts of businesses. However, there are also community buyouts which can ensure the subsistence of a community business or service threw community ownership by those who are committed to keeping the entity alive.
With the support of the Atkinson Foundation, Dr. Sean Geobey (University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) and Meg Ronson (SuccessionMatching) published a report looking at how to employ the co-operative model (in the context of the province of Ontario in this case) for all types of succession planning and potential of the model for all sorts of community planning.
