Welcome to Planting the seeds of change : A preparatory course for ACE job fairs. We’re glad you decided to join us!
The purpose of this course is to give students and recent graduates in the field of agriculture some information about what co-operative businesses are and what kind of jobs are available, in order to prepare them for job fairs organized by the Association of Cooperative Educators (ACE).
There are 3 sections to this course: LEARN, ZOOM IN, and JOBS.
In the LEARN section, participants go through the co-operative business model and the principles that guide it.
During ZOOM IN, participants watch short videos about a variety of co-operatives in the agricultural sector to get an idea of the types of businesses they could be working in.
In JOBS, there are a few recruiting and testimonial videos to show some of the job opportunities available. There is also some information about becoming a member of worker cooperatives.
Students need to complete a minimum of 50% of the videos in order to gain access to the job fairs taking place on 16 and 18 April.
Each section takes about 20 – 30 minutes to complete. The videos are short - mainly under 5 minutes each. There are also some quizzes and reflection questions to complete along the way. Once you have successfully gone through at least 50% of the videos, you will receive a certificate of completion that will gain access to ACE job fairs.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in a short preparatory session for the job fair itself on the day of the fair. More information on that will be sent to you when you finish this first short course.
Ready to get started? Let’s go!
Short and sweet and to the point
I learned a few new things. I appreciate the information around how coops are built around community needs. I wasn’t aware of that point before.
