Agricultural Education and Business Education teachers from across North Dakota collaborated to develop a Cooperatives instructional unit that includes various lesson plans, case studies, activities, and supporting materials. These high school lessons were designed as an introduction to cooperatives and follow the “Co-ops 101: An Introduction to Cooperatives” report booklet from USDA Rural Development (found here). These lessons address various topics: an introduction to co-ops, co-ops in the community, benefits of co-ops, business organizations, classifying co-ops by structure, people, sources of equity, financial & tax planning and equity management. As well, there are case studies and assessments.
